You're not alone.
Im averaging about five hours every night while I'm supposed to be getting nine to ten. If you do the math, thats 35 hours of missing sleep a week and 140 hours a month (almost six days! )
Ignorant adults keep telling me that I should simply go to bed earlier. I tried, i really did but when that failed i consulted a more reliable source...the internet. And guess what i found out?! Researchers have found evidence which proves that teenagers are naturally inclined to go to bed later. Our internal "clocks" (the physiological factor that functions in regulating body rhythms) is altered: Our bodies fall asleep later and wake up later because of...HORMONES--see?! The problem is way out of our hands...This hormonal condition wouldn't be a problem if teenagers ruled the world but unfortunately for us, absolute power is in the hands of our egotistical elders. If classes just started a little later, we wouldn't fall asleep in them or have to dope up on three tons of coffee every morning to get through the day.
All Im asking for is sleep. It's a basic need, just as significant as food and water and shelter. To deprive us is inhumane!
Good Night & Good Luck
